BORNGAN City, September 23, 2017–Department of Tourism secretary Wanda Corazon Teo is expected to grace Eastern Samar’s 52nd Founding Anniversary in November.
According to acting governor Marcelo Ferdinand A. Picardal, Teo’s invitation to the celebration is in line with the province’s campaign to beef up tourism and culture programs.
The acting governor said he believes tourism will help in jobs creation and ultimately poverty alleviation.
He has since formed a special committee to draft the Provincial Tourism Development Plan which he hopes to present in November.
A consultations with tourism stakeholders province-wide will take place this month, Picardal said.
Capability building and skills assessment will also be conducted thereafter.
Part of the activities lined up for the founding anniversary is a tourism summit where stakeholders in the industry will be gathered. (Medora NB Quirante / Este News)
