
BORONGAN, July 29, 2019—“I was so happy that Gabrielle won first runner up at the Miss Friendship International and I thank those who supported my granddaughter,” said Pelagia Celada of Sabang, Borongan City.
Gabrielle Basiano, 21 from Tacloban City was crowned first runner-up at the Miss Friendship International 2019 held in Chengdu, China July 27.
“I wasn’t expecting it. There were more than 50 girls who wanted the crown, but there will only be 6 lucky ones. I am very thankful,” said Basiano in an interview with ESTE News.
Basiano bagged the Ambassadress of the World Philippines title last June, which allowed her to represent the Philippines for the Miss Friendship International.
A daughter of Mary May Celada Basiano of Borongan, Gabrielle was one of the best Asian candidates who dominated the pageant’s top 6 and eventually shared the first runner-up niche with Brazilian Lorena Rodriguez.

“As of now, I don’t have plans of joining other pageants. Maybe I will join another pageant 2 years from now. Binibining Pilipinas siguro.” said Basiano who is a fourth-year tourism student at the Asian Development Foundation College of Tacloban.
