DSWD issues 4Ps cards anew after a year’s delay

BORONGAN CITY, June 15, 2018–The Department of Social Welfare and Development started on Wednesday the distribution of cash cards to around 28,000 grantees of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4 Ps in Eastern Samar.

Ms. Febie Palines, DSWD’s procincial link in the province said the cards will be distributed by the Landbank Borongan branch, but due to limited bank personnel, they can only distribute 1,000 cards during weekdays, and 2,500 on Saturdays.

Distribution schedule will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Also, starting June 24, the Landbank branch in Guiuan will start distribution of cards to the beneficiaries in the southern municipalities.

Palines said that beneficiaries should coordinate with their municipal links for their schedule to get the cards and grant.

The beneficiaries will receive nine months worth of grant money when they receive the cards.

The distribution of grants to around 100,000 over the counter grantees of the 4Ps in region 8 was delayed for almost one year after Landbank’s failed bidding for a supplier of the cash cards.

Some of their finance partners also failed to comply with certain requirements needed to be able to conduct off-site distribution.

Aside from Eastern Samar, grantees from Northern Samar. Samar and Southern Leyte will also be finally receiving their grants.

The 4Ps is a human development program of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor to improve health, nutrition and education of children. (Eden Cidro/ Este News)
