LAOANG, Northern Samar- The Department of PublicWorks and Highways (DPWH) Northern Samar 2nd District Engineering Office has clarified that the P140 million long delayed construction of all weather road in Las Navas town is not implemented by their office.

District Engineer Ferdinand Briones said that the P140 million all weather road project funded by PAMANA through the Office of the Presidential Peace Process (OPAPP) is implemented by the DPWH Regional Office in Palo, Leyte and not by the DPWH in Northern Samar.

He said they are being misunderstood of the delayed project implementation because they are both DPWH and it is their regional office that implemented the project.

“We have no delayed projects in our district and that P140 million project is implemented by the regional office,” Briones said.

The P140 million all weather road project in Las Navas will open the town to the remote barangays of Las Navas, one of the NPA infiltrated towns of Northern Samar.

The DPWH regional office in Eastern Visayas has still no explanation on the long delayed project implementation.

Earlier, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar has issued a warning that he will fire corrupt DPWH officials in Eastern Visayas over delayed and substandard infrastructure projects being complained in Northern Samar. (Nestor L. Abrematea / Visayas Times)
