BORONGAN City, April 28, 2017–In order to help solve drug treatment center shortage, government doctors are being trained in basic assessment and management of drug dependents.
In a Facebook message to Este News, Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital medical officer Dr. Macario Felicen III said a group of doctors is undergoing training on basic drug rehabilitation in the nation’s capital.
According to Felicen, the training, held from April 24 to May 5, aims to make drug rehabilitation more accessible and feasible for communities without existing drug rehabilitation facilities.
Trainers come from the University of the Philippines Manila and National Center for Mental Health.
In the region, only the Department of Health-operated Dulag, Leyte Treatment and Rehabilitation Center caters to patients suffering from drug abuse. (Medora NB Quirante / Este News)
